Dr. Ksera Dyette (she/her) is a Black Caribbean, immigrant, queer, cisgender woman. She is an intersectional feminist/queer theorist with clear social justice and liberation values rooted in her story and practice. 

Dr. Dyette founded Cup of Tea Counselling, LLC in 2019 because she had always associated her and her family’s tea-drinking rituals with both conflict and warmth. Tea is the grounding start to her day. As much as it represents warmth, it also represents the fact that her home country of Trinidad & Tobago was a former British Colony. Prior to occupation, Dr. Dyette’s family drank tea made from the leaves, bushes, and fruit around them (soursop, jigga bush, fever grass and so on). Though these bush teas were intimately connected to the healing and strengthening the Trinidadian people, it was passed over for what the British brought like Lipton Tea (1890) and Ovaltine (1904). For a time, this represented the “best” of what her family could access, but Dr. Dyette has evolved in her understanding that the roots of her people’s connection to the herbs and bushes around them, was the real luxury all along.

Tea, is the symbol of intergenerational messages stemming from conflict, trauma, and the fight for freedom. Dr. Dyette embraces this knowledge in every cup of tea to start her day and as a reminder of the ways she keeps these messages a compass in her business. 

Now, Cup of Tea Coaching & Consulting, Dr. Dyette’s practice is home to the Boundless Liberation Private Practice Coaching program. Dr. Dyette continues to offer services consistent with her training in psychological assessment and forensic evaluation. Dr. Dyette is also available for guest teaching and speaking engagements.
